The Mahalo Bash is a one-night concert series on Saturday, September 5th at 7:30PM (doors open at 7:00PM). Held in the beautiful Terrace Theatre, the Mahalo Bash concert features upcoming and popular Hawaiian musical acts and entertainers. E Hula Mau® is proud to present 2009’s Mahalo Bash concert lineup:

Feel the 'ohana spirit even after the competition! E Hula Mau®'s Kanikapila Jam features entertainment and music, from 9:00PM-12:00AM on Saturday, September 5th, at the Westin Long Beach Hotel. Come socialize with event participants and fellow E Hula Mau® visitors while listening to the melodious sounds of Hawaii. Bring your ukulele or guitar for impromptu jam sessions held in the hotel lobby. This event is free and open to the public.
The Lei Making Contest will take place at the Hawaiian Village behind the outdoor stage. The Awards Ceremony will be presented during Sunday Competition's Intermission. Download workshop details and entry form. To learn the art of lei making, join our Lei Making Workshop on Saturday, September 5th.
E Hula Mau® offers several workshops all weekend long at the Long Beach Convention Center. Workshops are open on a first-come, first-served basis and may have activity fees (to cover the cost of materials supplied). Please participate in following E Hula Mau® events:
• Lei Workshop
Try your hand at crafting a lei Saturday September 5, at the Hawaiian Village, Lei Workshop at 8:00AM. Download more workshop details. A $10 fee will be collected at the door for materials. (Please bring scissors, floral clippers, and a spray bottle.) Once you have mastered the technique, enter your lei in the contest Sunday, September 6, at 8:00AM.
• Hawaiian Educational Lecture
Hokulani Holt Padilla, Head Judge for E Hula Mau® 2009, will discuss hula protocol and why it is important to our culture and to our lives, Sunday, September 6th, at 8:00AM. "Hula, like all Hawaiian cultural practices, has "a way of doing". This manifests itself through oli kahea, oli komo, appropriate behavior, and expected actions. All of these are important to maintain this particular cultural practice. More than maintaining hula however, these are also important in maintaining Hawaiian culture and its practice today and into the future." The lecture will be held at the Hawaiian Village and is free to the public.
• Slack Key Workshop
Gifted musician, Cyril Pahinui, will be leading a Slack Key Workshop at the Westin Long Beach Hotel, Marina Room, 4th Floor, on Saturday, September 5th, from 10:00AM-12:00PM. Please bring your own guitar and your $45.00 workshop fee (cash or check payable to Cyril Pahinui).
• Hawaiian Cultural Village Workshops
