Vaihi has been playing together since 1993 and has toured around the world, Japan being their biggest fans. In 2005 and 2007 they won best Polynesian Album of the Year. Come and enjoy Valhi's creative talents as they engage you and your family in their exciting musical renditions of both traditional and original musical

GARY HALEAMAU AND KAWILI

“Kawili(to blend or to be interwoven) beautifully describes the traditional Hawaiian music and voices of Gary Haleamau, William Lau, Sheldeen and Kurin Haleamau.  The groups goal is to translate the essence of each mele (song) composed with their voices, instruments, and their hearts…ultimately telling stories of Hawaii’s culture, events, and its people.

“Gary Haleamau”, a 2008 Nā Hoku Hanohano Award recipient for “Best Christian Album of the Year” has been playing and singing Hawaiian Music professionally since the age of 7.  At the age of 12, he won a contest and recorded his first 45 with Poki Records.  Since then, Gary has recorded seven albums with Liko Records and two albums with Ken Makuakane and Pua Records.

Coming from a family of Paniolo (Hawaiian Cowboy), Gary learned to play Hawaiian Slack-key from his father Karin Haleamau and Uncle Lyons Kahulamu and keeps this art alive by sharing his gift with son Kurin.

Gary believes that our “Kuleana” (responsibility) as Hawaiians is to treasure and pass on Hawaiian music and art to our keiki (children), for they are our future.
